Brooklyn Relief Kitchen at Old First is a volunteer-led organization founded by restaurant industry professionals to tackle food insecurity in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. We prepare fresh cooked meals and relief boxes for distribution by our local frontline community partners.

We are gratefully accepting donations of food and cash at the Brooklyn Relief Kitchen Donation Tent, Wednesday thru Saturday 10am-2pm. You will find us in front of Old First Church on 7th Avenue and Carroll St.
Those in need may also receive non- perishable food here.

PLEASE NOTE: THE PREPARATION OF HOT MEALS WILL BE PUT ON PAUSE beginning in June 2021 while the church is undergoing essential repairs. Our need for new volunteers has greatly diminished. Brooklyn Relief Kitchen is staffed and managed by volunteers. The kitchen is open from 6:30am to 2:30pm Wednesday thru Saturday.
Experienced kitchen workers assist Chef Kate in the kitchen. Less experienced volunteers prep, portion food, clean, sanitize and sort donations.
Our volunteer drivers deliver food to our partnering frontline organizations using their own vehicles.
Weather permitting our food drive tent in front of Old First Reformed Church is staffed by volunteers Wednesday – Saturday 10am – 2:00pm.
Volunteers with experience in non-profit fundraising, marketing, graphics, and website maintenance keep the proverbial gears turning.

Offsite Food Drive
If your organization, building, school or business would like to organize a food drive on our behalf we are very happy to assist you with signage, donation boxes, information flyers, donation jar, and donation pickup. This is especially important for us in the winter months!
